How To Make Lemon Tek For A Faster Mushroom/Truffle Trip
Sometimes, you just want to come up hard and fast. Luckily, there's a way. If you're after mind-bending trips in under twenty minutes, you've come to the right place. Just make sure you're prepared for the trip of a lifetime, because you're about to transcend to another dimension.
Taking magic mushrooms is fun. In fact, it’s some of the most fun to be had. However, sometimes it can taste a little gross and make you feel a little nauseated. But, there is a way to avoid this. What’s more, the lemon tek method can cut the come-up time by more than half and, potentially, increase the potency of the effects. What is this magical method, you ask? It’s actually incredibly simple. All you need is lemon juice and a knife… and some magic mushrooms.
What Is Lemon Tek and How Does It Work?
Lemon tek is a method used to convert psilocybin into psilocin for easier uptake. Psilocybin is the psychoactive compound in shrooms that is responsible for the psychedelic experience.
However, psilocybin itself is what’s known as a prodrug, a compound that can be converted into a drug. In short, psilocybin does not technically get you high. When it's converted into psilocin, however, it can be processed by the body, and this is what gets you high. Usually, this takes place in the stomach, thanks to stomach acid. But the process can be outsourced to the kitchen table.
What Are the Benefits of Lemon Tek?
-
Significantly faster come-up: As the conversion of psilocybin into psilocin takes place outside the body, the uptake time in the body is much more rapid.
-
More powerful high: Though this is disputed, most users report the effects coming on stronger and harder than when eaten plain or drunk as a tea.
-
Shorter-lasting high: For some this is a benefit, for others a drawback. As the conversion has already happened, the body can process the psilocin faster.
-
Tastes better: Chewing grams of dry shrooms can be tiresome. Turning them into a thick, lemony shot can make them easier to consume.
-
Reduces nausea: The acid in the lemon juice is thought to break down some of the chitin in the shrooms' cell walls. This is one of the main suspects for the nausea experienced on magic mushrooms (if you suffer very badly from nausea, mushroom tea might be for you, as you need not consume any chitin).
Lemon Tek Dosage and Effects
Reports vary, but, on the whole, the consensus seems to be that lemon tek makes for a much more intense experience. Some reports indicate that normal amounts of shrooms can induce almost DMT-like effects. Others are more sceptical.
With that in mind, it can be hard to know how to dose your lemon tek. The safest advice is to try consuming magic mushrooms "plain" a few times first so you get used to the effects. Once you’ve done this, you will be more prepared if the lemon tek does send you to other dimensions. If you’ve never taken shrooms before, don’t worry about having the trip of a lifetime. You’ll be blown away no matter what.
How Fast Does Lemon Tek Kick In?
Again, definite answers are not possible here, in the same way that there is no set time for coming up if you eat magic mushrooms plain. But, a safe bet is 15–20 minutes. If you eat beforehand, this waiting period will likely be longer. If you’ve got a completely empty stomach, it could be faster.
Reports suggest that the trip will be a quarter to a third shorter than a standard trip. Many users also report feeling “cleaner” and less tired after the high.
How To Make Lemon Tek With Magic Mushrooms or Truffles
Below you will find all the necessary ingredients, equipment, and instructions to make your own lemon tek. The good news is, it’s incredibly easy, and you’re likely to already have everything you need in the house.
Ingredients for Lemon Tek
- Magic mushrooms or truffles
- Fresh lemon juice (2–3 lemons per dose)
- Water (optional)
Equipment for Lemon Tek
- Glass
- Sharp knife or coffee grinder
- Cheesecloth or filter paper (optional)
Lemon Tek Directions
-
Cut or grind the magic mushrooms or truffles into as fine a powder as possible. The larger the surface area, the better the conversion. A coffee grinder is best suited to this, but a knife works well too.
-
Juice the lemons and pour it over the mushroom powder—make sure that you cover it completely. Leave this to sit for about 25 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes or so. Although there is no exact time frame for this conversion, once psilocybin has converted into psilocin, it can oxidise, at which point it breaks down. As such, don’t leave it for much longer than this.
-
(Optional stage) Filter the juice through filter paper or a cheesecloth to obtain pure mushroom juice, and discard the mushrooms. This is good for reducing nausea, but could significantly reduce the potency depending on how successful the conversion was.
-
(Optional stage) Add water or tea (not boiling!) to your juice. This will improve the taste and allow you to consume it more slowly.
-
Drink it! If you skipped step 4, then drink your lemon tek like a shot. If a quick and hard come-up is what you’re after, this is the way to do it.
Does Lemon Tek Work With Lime?
Lime juice can be used as a substitute for lemon juice. It is the acid in these fruits that causes the conversion; as such, each works as well as the other.
Some users drink orange juice when they eat magic mushrooms as they believe this contributes to a speedy conversion inside the body; essentially, a two-part lemon (orange) tek. It is highly possible that this works to some degree, and many people swear by it.
However, it is not possible to know exactly what is happening when everything is mixed together in the body. There is stomach acid in the stomach after all, which has a similar pH level as citrus fruits.
Microdosing Lemon Tek
Lemon tek can also work as a way to microdose magic mushrooms. Microdosing is a method of taking drugs that, whilst still having an effect, does not cause a high. The point is to not really feel like you're on drugs, but to enter a sort of heightened sober state.
With shrooms, people typically take between 0.2 and 0.5 grams about every three days. If you use lemon tek, you might have to tinker with the dose a little as the effects could be stronger, potentially resulting in being too high to perform normally.
Lemon Tek vs Shroom Tea
Usually, people use lemon tek as a means to increase the speed and power of a trip. With shroom tea, people are usually trying to avoid nausea and the bad taste of eating plain mushrooms—but both methods will achieve this to a degree. As previously mentioned, tea can be added to your lemon tek to get the best of both worlds.
Take Your Magic Mushroom Trips to New Heights With Lemon Tek
Lemon tek is one of several ways to mix up your psychedelic experience. Potent and fast, it can turn a small dose of magic mushrooms into a cosmic high. A major benefit is that the shortened duration allows for intense trips without the risk of them seeming never-ending.
A good way to avoid the bad taste and nausea, it can make consumption an easier process too. Even more, if you’re a budding psychonaut, playing around with different methods is good fun, and you’re sure to find the ones that work best for you!
