The Liquid Culture Cloning Kit from North Spore contains everything you need to produce 300ml of fast-growing mushroom culture in a matter of days. At the heart of this kit is a glass jar containing 300ml of sterile media that's been specially formulated by mycologists. Also known as "expander broth", the liquid in this jar has been designed to provide your spores or culture with the perfect environment to grow into strong mycelium.

How to Use a Liquid Culture Cloning Kit

1. Upon receiving your product, we recommend waiting at least 7 days before using it to ensure the medium wasn't compromised during handling or transit. The liquid contained in your jar should look crystal clear—if it is cloudy, it may have been contaminated during shipping. Reach out to us for a replacement if that's the case.
2. North Spore's Liquid Culture Cloning Kit is best used within 1 month of receipt. Store in a dry place at 50–70°F (10–21°C). Once fully colonized, the culture can be refrigerated and kept for up to 4 months.
3. Before inoculating your kit, create a sterilized, clean working area. For optimal results, consider working in a still air box.
4. To inoculate your liquid culture cloning kit, first wipe down the injection port and filter on the jar's lid with an alcohol wipe. Then inject 2–5cc (2–5ml) of spores or liquid culture into the jar through the self-healing injection port. Remember that needles come sterilized, but need to be sterilized before each use if used multiple times. If the liquid in your spore/culture syringe looks uneven, shake it to disperse the mycelium or spores.
5. Agitate the jar for 20–30 seconds to help disperse the mycelium/spores.
6. Store in a dark, warm area for 1 week. Agitate the jar again after 3 days to further disperse the mycelium. Colonization is fastest at temperatures of 77–82°F (25–28°C).
7. After 7 days, you should see clouds of white mycelium forming in your jar. Leave your jar to colonize for roughly 2 weeks after the first signs of mycelium growth, then refrigerate it for storage and use.

• Sterility is key—contamination is the #1 cause of failed mushroom grows.
• Wait for 1 week before using cloning kits to ensure the product wasn't damaged or compromised during shipping.
• Store your liquid culture properly during incubation to maximize mycelium growth.
• Where possible, inoculate cultures and mushroom growing medium in a still air box.
