It is similar in appearance to the San Pedro cactus but with fewer and wider ribs. Like the San Pedro cactus, the Bolivian Torch contains a number of psychoactive alkaloids including the powerful psychedelic compound Mescaline.

Growing the Bolivian Torch from seed to flower isn’t too difficult if you just keep an eye on some cactus growing basics. For an optimal germination rate you should keep the growing environment moist but well ventilated. With commonly available cactus potting and soil mixes which you can get at any gardening store you will get good results.
The Bolivian Torch will grow into a green, columnar cactus with fragrant white flowers.

All of these seeds germinated but I lost a few transitioning from a covered microclimate to pots. Two years later they are now 60cm tall and getting bigger
