Gardenias are widely recognised for their large, pretty flowers that emit an iconic sweet aroma. Zamnesia essential oil is made using only the most fragrant gardenia varieties, making for a pungent oil perfect for aromatherapy.

Comprising over 100 individual species, Gardenia is a genus of plants originating from warm, humid climates. Different species of Gardenia are native to Asia, Africa, Australasia, and Oceania. While popular as house plants, gardenias can be tricky to cultivate given their preference for hot, humid conditions. Flowering from spring to summer, gardenias produce large, white-yellow flowers with a strong, sweet floral perfume that we've carefully condensed into every drop of this rich oil.

In some regions, the fruits of gardenias are used as a dye, and for a variety of soothing purposes in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Gardenia flowers and petals are also emblematic of many Pacific islands and a focal point of tiki culture. In some places, gardenias are considered a sign of peace, trust, hope, clarity, and renewal. Some cultures also attribute different meanings to gardenias depending on their colour; pink and red gardenias, for example, are often considered a sign of love and beauty, while orange gardenias are sometimes used to symbolise hope.

How to Use Gardenia Essential Oil

Our gardenia essential oil has been carefully crafted to be used in aromatherapy diffusers or oil burners. Thanks to the purity of this essential oil, a little goes a long way; 3–5 drops is enough to quickly perfume any space.
