White Clover is a natural living mulch and source of green manure
WHITE CLOVER
White Clover (Trifolium repens) is a living mulch and will carpet any open spaces between your other plants aiding water penetration and soil friability. Clover has nodules on its roots where it fixes stabilized atmospheric nitrogen. As the plant decays this nitrogen is released into the local environment. All neighbouring plants including nitrogen hungry cannabis thrive on this cheap alternative to commercial fertilizer. White Clover is a tough workhorse that is difficult to kill and supplies quality nitrogen over a long period of time.
White puffball flowers with delicate splashes of pink form at the end of their own flower spike. Synonymous with the drowzy buzz of honeybees often accompanied by feeding butterflies a carpet of White Clover will be perennial and return in mid spring after winters chill. Seeds should be sown directly into the garden as the weather warms and the seedlings thinned as they start to clump.
White Clover flowers make a pleasant tea when dried and steeped, but it has little medicinal use. Its primary function as a companion plant is to fix and provide nitrogen, act as a living mulch and be a rich source of green manure. White Clover can substantially reduce the need for commercial fertilizers. This is good news for the planet as most commercial sources of nitrogen have their beginning in the petro-chemical industry.

Gute Samen!
Bodendecker
Dank u Zamnesia
